MT3608 2A DC-DC Step Up Boost Converter Power Supply Module

Power your Arduino projects, DIY electronics, and custom builds with precision. The MT3608 DC-DC Step Up Boost Converter Module is a compact, high-efficiency voltage booster that takes an input of 2V to 24V and steps it up to a fully adjustable output of 5V, 9V, 12V, or up to 28V — all with a peak output current of 2A. With a conversion efficiency of over 93%, this module is an excellent choice for makers, hobbyists, and engineers alike.

Made in China.

Key Features

  • Wide Input Range: Accepts 2V to 24V DC input — compatible with batteries, solar panels, and regulated power supplies
  • Adjustable Output: Dial in your desired voltage from just above input up to 28V using the onboard potentiometer
  • High Efficiency: Up to 93% conversion efficiency minimizes heat and energy waste
  • Maximum Output Current: 2A peak — ideal for powering microcontrollers, sensors, and small motors
  • Compact SMD Design: Small footprint makes it easy to integrate into tight enclosures and breadboard setups

How to Adjust the Output Voltage

When using this module for the first time, the output voltage may be locked and unable to be adjusted with small turns. To reset:

  1. Face the potentiometer toward you.
  2. Turn the potentiometer counter-clockwise more than 20 full turns to unlock it.
  3. After unlocking, you can freely adjust the output voltage by continuing to turn counter-clockwise to boost the voltage.
  4. Note: Always ensure your input voltage does not exceed 24V and your output current does not exceed 2A.

Important Usage Notes

  • Do not exceed the maximum input voltage of 24V.
  • The output current (peak included) must not surpass 2A.
  • The output voltage must always be set higher than the input voltage (this is a step-up/boost module only).

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the MT3608 DC-DC Step Up Boost Converter Module used for?

A: The MT3608 boost converter module is used to increase (step up) a lower DC voltage to a higher DC voltage. It's commonly used in Arduino projects, battery-powered devices, DIY electronics, and anywhere you need to convert a lower voltage source — such as a single-cell LiPo battery (3.7V) — to a higher usable voltage like 5V, 9V, or 12V.

Q: Can I use the MT3608 module with an Arduino?

A: Yes! The MT3608 boost converter is fully compatible with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ESP32, ESP8266, and other popular microcontroller development boards. It can be used to power the board itself or to supply regulated voltage to peripherals and components within your project.

Q: How do I set the output voltage on this boost converter?

A: The output voltage is set using the onboard potentiometer (adjustable trim pot). If the potentiometer appears stuck or the voltage won't change, turn it counter-clockwise for more than 20 full rotations to unlock the adjustment range. Once unlocked, rotate counter-clockwise to increase the output voltage, and always verify the output with a multimeter before connecting sensitive components.

Q: What is the maximum current this module can supply?

A: The MT3608 module has a maximum output current of 2A. Keep in mind that actual current capacity may be lower depending on the difference between input and output voltages and ambient temperature. For sustained loads, it is recommended to stay below 1.5A to maintain stable operation and longevity.
