XY-J02 Single-Channel Time Delay Relay Timer Module

Take precise control of your automated circuits with the XY-J02 1-Channel Time Delay Relay Module. Engineered for makers, hobbyists, and industrial users alike, this compact timer module delivers a wide operating voltage range (6–30V), flexible timing from 0.1 seconds up to 999 minutes, and multiple programmable operating modes — all in a rugged, industrial-grade package. Made in Mainland China.

Key Highlights

  • Wide Voltage Input: Operates on 6–30V DC and also supports 5.0V via Micro USB — extremely versatile for any project.
  • Flexible Timing Range: Continuously adjustable from 0.1 second (minimum) to 999 minutes (maximum) via three selectable decimal-point positions.
  • 7 Operating Modes (P1.1 through P-4): Triggered delay ON, re-trigger, reset-on-trigger, delayed start, loop cycling, auto-cycle on power-up, and signal-hold modes.
  • Optocoupler Isolation: Enhanced anti-interference capability for reliable operation in noisy electrical environments.
  • Emergency STOP Key: Instantly halts timing and relay output at any moment; also used to select the decimal-point (timing range) position.
  • Reverse-Connection Protection: Accidentally wiring power backwards will not damage the module.
  • Non-Volatile Memory: All set parameters (OP on-time, CL off-time, LOP cycle count) are automatically saved after power loss and restored on the next power-up.
  • Industrial-Grade PCB: Rated for operating temperatures from −40°C to +85°C; service life exceeding 100,000 relay operations.

Operating Modes Explained

  • P1.1: Trigger → relay ON for OP time → OFF. Re-trigger during OP is ignored.
  • P1.2: Trigger → relay ON for OP time → OFF. Re-trigger restarts the OP countdown.
  • P1.3: Trigger → relay ON for OP time → OFF. Re-trigger immediately disconnects relay and stops timing.
  • P-2: Trigger → delay CL time → relay ON for OP time → relay OFF.
  • P3.1: Trigger → relay ON (OP) → relay OFF (CL) → cycles; another trigger stops the cycle. Cycle count (LOP) is settable.
  • P3.2: No trigger needed — auto-starts cycling relay ON (OP) / OFF (CL) at power-up. LOP settable.
  • P-4: Signal-hold mode — relay stays ON as long as trigger is present; turns OFF after OP time elapses once signal is removed.

How to Set Parameters

  1. Power on the module; it will briefly flash the current mode (default P1.1), then show the main interface ("000").
  2. Long-press SET (2 sec) to enter Mode Selection. Use UP/DOWN buttons to scroll through P1.1 → P-4.
  3. Short-press SET to begin setting parameters (OP, CL, LOP). Adjust values with UP/DOWN (short press = ±1 unit; long press = rapid change).
  4. Short-press STOP to shift the decimal point and select the timing range (seconds, tenths of seconds, or minutes).
  5. Long-press SET (2 sec) to save all settings and return to the main interface.

Tip: At any time on the main interface, short-press SET to review all parameters for the currently active mode.

Important Note on Relay Output

The relay output is a passive dry contact — it provides NO voltage of its own. It simply opens or closes a circuit path. Connect your load's power supply through the relay's COM/NO/NC terminals to switch your device on and off.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What power supply does the XY-J02 relay timer module require?

A: The XY-J02 relay timer module supports a wide input voltage of 6–30V DC. It also conveniently accepts 5V power through a Micro USB port, making it easy to power from a standard USB adapter or power bank during testing and prototyping.

Q: Can the XY-J02 timer module cycle automatically without a trigger signal?

A: Yes. In mode P3.2, the module begins its ON/OFF cycle automatically as soon as power is applied — no external trigger is needed. You can set the ON time (OP), OFF time (CL), and the number of cycles (LOP), including infinite cycling.

Q: What is the maximum load the relay on this module can switch?

A: The onboard relay can switch loads up to DC 30V / 5A or AC 220V / 5A. The relay output is a passive contact, meaning it does not supply power itself — it controls the connection of an external power circuit to your load.

Q: Will my settings be lost if power is cut to the XY-J02 module?

A: No. All configured parameters — including the selected operating mode, OP on-time, CL off-time, and LOP cycle count — are stored in non-volatile memory and are automatically restored the next time the module is powered on.

Q: What timing ranges are available on the XY-J02?

A: The timing is continuously adjustable across three ranges selected by the decimal-point position: 0.1–99.9 seconds (tenths resolution), 1–999 seconds (whole-second resolution), or 1–999 minutes. This gives a full span from 0.1 second up to over 16 hours.
